Absolutely love Escos. I've been to both locations on La Brea and was excited to see they moved even closer to my place. The staff is incredibly friendly and hard working making this review super easy! Pizza is amazing and salad and bread sticks are super fresh!! Don't think twice!! Stop by and grab some amazing New York style pizza!
Best New York Pizza in LA. And I'm from NY so I know pizza! The owner is friendly and it's great watching him make his giant pies. They even have vegan pizza. You can buy a slice or a whole pie. Lots of options. Love it!
Excellent New York style pizza, giant slices so much so they have to give it to you on two plates. I'm from Queens and it Felt just like a slice of home. I wish it was closer to me in Glendale, but I spoke to the owner Esteban very awesome New York, Harlem cat said he's thinking about moving something in my area which I really pray he does one day. Got the pepperoni slice and two different types of margarita. Highly recommended.
Super welcoming pizza place where you can grab some slices to go. Lots of varieties to choose from and super fun space. We enjoyed the two slices we took to-go!
Amazing pizza! Omg it reminded me of NYC so much. I had a slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza with the Sour Blueberry fizzy soda water (there was only 1 left!). Both were delicious! I had never seen this brand of soda water before. I'm going back today to get a couple more slices. Can't decide if I'm going with the same toppings or going to try something different. The guy at the counter was so friendly and served my slice really fast. I had been driving by this place for months. So glad I finally stopped in!
(Dined 04/03/24 WE @ 1:30pm): Esco was bringing his New York style pizza to the Westside! Thanks to an earlier Yelp Elite event that introduced me to Esco's New York Style Pizza, I decided to make another trip since I was working in the area. I loved pizza and would eat it every day if I could. However, I opted for something non-pizza and explored their menu a bit more. After my first visit, I enjoyed their pizza, so I knew they had that going for them. Would Esco's other food options bring me back, or was it all about their New York style pizza!? PURCHASE Stone Brewing Stone Tangerine Express Hazy IPA Beer 6.7% ABV 12oz Bottle ($5.00 HH): Hazy orange color, citrusy hoppy aroma, low body, citrusy hoppy flavor, slight drying finish, and light citrusy hoppy aftertaste. This was definitely one of my favorites with its load of citrus! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=eUQ_hpS5V4M-IoXXKuHtsg 6pc Garlic Knots w/Marinara Sauce ($8.00): Bread - check! Garlic - check! Value - check! I loved garlic knots, and these were some of the largest and garlicky ones I've eaten! Buttery, hot, and puffy, I was licking my fingers down to the bone! The marinara sauce was a bit thin and lacked any distinguishable Italianess, but I didn't let it go to waste. I was stuffed after I threw these down! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Dlq6YNBg07eoAe-t570EFg SERVICE I was greeted by a friendly young male behind the counter who quickly took my simple order. I received my beer immediately while the garlic knots were ready in about five minutes. Once I had everything, I was left to my own devices as I enjoyed my lunch in relative calmness (random customers came in for a pizza slice and left). All was good on the Westside - thank you! PARKING (FREE) They didn't have any parking or themselves, so you were basically left with only street parking (be mindful of the posted signs; read them carefully) along the main drag of La Brea Ave. and all surrounding streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A boxy simple layout with the order and display counter directly in the middle of the floor that looked into the kitchen https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=jroLCroEbXiP-m2niaX3yg with several dining tables surrounding https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Jm5gu29aEyk0biilFxek_g the aforementioned counter (as well as some outside on the sidewalk), several promotional displays, and a large neon sign hung from the ceiling. There was also a back area that resembled a subway car https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=2ZRVMR6NFe4CkFSZ5mJ7Xw that appeared to lead to a separate room, but I didn't explore any further. Plenty of natural lighting came in through the large glass windows and doors while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were a couple of TVs while rock music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=6uYmmcfWeaUMQm8FRqszCg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I enjoyed my second visit to Esco's New York Style Pizza and would consider stopping by again if I was in the area. I rarely found myself on the Westside unless I was working on something, so I wouldn't say I'd go out of my way to come here. I loved the food, I found the prices to be reasonable (especially for very large NY-style pizza slices), and the service was very efficient. Their menu was varied enough as they served the usual pastas, salads, sandwiches, etc., associated with pizza. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses whenever possible. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL would-be paid experience was around $14.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice for the balance... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
After enjoying pizza in Florence, Venice and Rome, I was thrilled to return to Esco's New York style pizza which is way better than any of them! I am declaring Esco's to be the new pizza capitol of the world. Esco is a real guy and totally charming. He's in there flipping dough and loving life. The pizza and other menu items are friggin' delicious!
I just found out that Esco's moved to pico and La Brea. The pizza is still excellent and it's my favorite pizza restaurant in Los Angeles
